Frequently Asked Questions
Many times, a school teacher is unable to cater to your child and their specific needs to the varying levels and the number of students in your child’s class. Genesis Academy provides the individual attention your child needs through smaller teacher to student ratio classes.
The students are placed in classes that are suitable for their needs, whether they need more challenging work or are falling behind and need help to lay foundations for future, more difficult studies.
Genesis Academy’s material covers the current syllabus, as well as catering for exams such as NAPLAN, O.C. and Selective tests.
Please contact Reception to enrol. Your child will need to sit an entrance exam prior to enrolling, in order to determine the best Level for them. A list of classes is available under the 'Classes' tab, but final enrolment will be at the discretion of the Principal.
All of our teachers are highly qualified teachers, who are very experienced in the subjects that they teach. All our teachers are from top tier high schools and universities or are current, qualified teachers who have extensive knowledge in how to help students maximise their knowledge and marks in their school exams and external exams. Our staff are friendly, enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable and have a passion for teaching.
All classwork which is not finished in class becomes homework. This should be finished and handed in before class the week after. The homework will be marked and handed to the students.
Genesis Academy stresses the importance of homework – you’re only here a couple of hours a week! To improve and see better results, make sure you’re doing some work at home.
Note: This policy does not apply to Trial Exam classes.
If there is a replacement class available, you can attend a make up class. Otherwise, you can receive the booklet for that week and hand in a completed booklet the week after and we can mark it for you so you don’t miss any of the content.
Every term will cover the foundations of all the skill bases which are necessary for the subject - so don’t worry!
Yes, you will have to take an entrance test after an interview with you and your parents. We only accept students who are willing to learn. This includes having respect for your teachers and peers, which we are very strict about.
Yes, you will be allocated into a class which is suitable for your current level for whatever program you enrol in after taking the entrance test.
If you are allocated into a lower level class – don’t worry. We only place you there to make sure you cover all the foundations that are necessary before we can move you into a class that is suited to your level as soon as we can. It’s important that you know everything and then catch up, rather than place you in a class and have you struggle to fill in the holes.
All the trial classes have features in common – expert teachers, trial exams that are similar in format and question type to the real exam, comprehensive explanation right after the exam and supplementary learning material.
Our feedback is that so many of the questions are similar to the actual exam, that students were right at ease and a majority of our past students have gained entrance into the top high schools and have also received scholarships.
